The calculation of the recognition rate and the protection rate (taking into account authorisations to stay or reside in Spain for humanitarian reasons) does not include those countries for which fewer than 10 resolutions have been adopted on the basis of a proposal from the IATRC.

PROGRESS applications and motions for resolutions on international protection

METHODOLOGICAL NOTE

This is a dissemination tool for statistical operation 7874 Statistics on Foreign Population Applicants for International Protection, Refugees, Beneficiaries of Subsidiary Protection, Displaced Persons and Stateless Persons, contained in the National Statistical Plan. The data source used is the computer application called Asylum.

Description of the data submitted

 Applicants for international protection. Number of persons who have lodged an application for international protection or who are included in such an application as a family member. This information is presented disaggregated by country of origin, sex and age of the applicant and province, autonomous community and place of filing of the application.

 Motions for resolutions submitted to the Interministerial Committee on Asylum and Refuge (CIAR). Number of motions for resolutions submitted to the IACHR in response to admissible applications for international protection. With the exception of the number of archiving proposals (in the terms of Article 27 of Law 12/2009, of 30 October, regulating the right to asylum and subsidiary protection), this information is presented disaggregated by type of decision and by country of origin. Two approaches to the recognition rate (by country of origin) are also included: one without considering the authorizations of stay or residence in Spain for humanitarian reasons as favorable resolutions, and another considering them as such (protection rate)

Breakdown of data for motions for resolutions:

• Refugee Status: data on asylum concessions, family extension of asylum and reunification of the Geneva Convention have been taken into account.

• Subsidiary Protection: the data concessions of Subsidiary Protection, Family Extension of Subsidiary Protection and Regrouping of Subsidiary Protection have been counted.

• Unfavourable: the data of Unfavourable Resolutions and Exclusion have been counted.
