PROGRESS OF APPLICATIONS AND PROPOSALS FOR RESOLUTIONS ON INTERNATIONAL PROTECTION

METHODOLOGICAL NOTE

This is a dissemination tool for statistical operation 7874 Statistics on Foreign Population Applicants for International Protection, Refugees, Beneficiaries of Subsidiary Protection, Displaced Persons and Stateless Persons, contained in the National Statistical Plan. The data source used is the computer application called Asylum.

Description of the data submitted

• Persons applying for international protection. Number of persons who have lodged an application for international protection or who are included in such an application as a family member. This information is presented disaggregated by country of origin, sex and age of the applicant and province, autonomous community and place of filing of the application.

• Resolutions signed by the Minister of the Interior, following their elevation to the Interministerial Committee on Asylum and Refuge (CIAR). Number of decisions signed by the Minister of the Interior, after their elevation to the IACHR, in response to applications for international protection declared admissible. With the exception of the number of archiving proposals (in the terms of Article 27 of Law 12/2009, of 30 October, regulating the right to asylum and subsidiary protection), this information is presented disaggregated by type of decision and by country of origin. Likewise, by country of origin, an approximation to the recognition rate is included (without considering the authorizations of stay or residence in Spain for humanitarian reasons as favorable resolutions), and another approximation to the protection rate (including said authorizations as favorable resolutions).

Breakdown of data for motions for resolutions

• Refugee Status: data on asylum concessions, family extension of asylum and reunification of the Geneva Convention have been taken into account.

• Subsidiary Protection: data on Subsidiary Protection concessions, Subsidiary Protection Family Extension and Subsidiary Protection Regrouping have been counted.

• Unfavourable: the data of Unfavourable Resolutions and Exclusion have been counted
