Discrimination based on sexual orientation
We dedicate this post today to all persons who have suffered or suffer discrimination on the basis of their sexual orientation, as well as those who have had to flee their countries or places of residence for not allowing them to live in freedom.
You can find more information on the reasons why many LGTBIAQ+ people become refugees on the website of the Spanish Commission for Refugee Assistance (CEAR).
We also recall the provisions of articles 1 and 2 of the Convention. Universal Declaration of Human Rights:
Article 1
All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights and, endowed as they are with reason and conscience, They should behave fraternally towards each other..Article 2
Everyone has the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind as to race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.
